Apply for Zoo Job Shadowing

Information and Application

Due Sept. 2 - please let Mrs. Jessie know if you need help completing this or proofreading!

This fall, Nashville Zoo is launching a free program called Pathway to Animal Care Careers (PACC). The purpose of this program is to diversify the field of animal care professionals by reaching out to demographics that are under-represented in this field, both culturally and socioeconomically. Our objective is to expand students' (in Nashville Title 1 schools) awareness of animal care career options by offering a day with a keeper at the Zoo. We would select approximately 15 high school students, each of which would spend one school day shadowing and participating in a day in the life of a zookeeper in the Ambassador Animal Department.

This year, because we will only have slots for students 2-3 times per month, October-March, we would like to open this program only to high school students in Davidson county. Because this is a pilot program, we want the advertising to be done primarily through teacher recommendation instead of advertising on social media platforms, if possible. This program can contribute to senior capstone requirements.
